Meat Sauce

Preparation

Thaw sauce overnight in refrigerator or microwave. Removed thawed sauce from container and place in pot. Cook on Medium low heat, stirring occasionally, until temperature reaches 160°F (approximately 5 minutes).

 

WHEN HEATING IN A MICROWAVE OVEN, PRODUCT AND CONTAINER CAN GET EXTREMELY HOT. USE CAUTION!

Serving /Presentation Suggestions

Use as a dipping sauce for toasted ravioli or heat and toss with any pasta and serve. Also use to make your own lasagna.

Cannelloni “Mamma Rosa”

Ingredients (4 servings):

  • 8 Louisa Cannelloni
  • 1 cup parmesan
  • 1 ½ cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 4 cups Louisa Meat Sauce
  • 2 ea fresh basil leaves
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  • In a baking dish ladle Meat Sauce, arrange thawed cannelloni in the sauce then ladle additional sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan and mozzarella then bake for 15 minutes at 400°F. Garnish with fresh basil.

Lasagna with Meat Sauce

Ingredients (4 servings):

  • 2 containers Louisa meat sauce
  • Pasta sheets or dry lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups Mozzarella
  • 3 cups Alfredo Sauce
  • 2 cups Parmigiano Reggiano (shaved)

Directions:

  • Ladle meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish (big enough to fit an 8 ½ x 11 ½ inch pasta sheet). Place thawed pasta sheets, then ladle more meat sauce to cover. Add 1 cup alfredo sauce, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with Parmigiano Reggiano. Repeat steps for the remaining layers. Bake covered at 400°F for 30-40 minutes then remove cover top with more Parmigiano cheese and bake until cheese has browned. Remove from oven and let rest a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Toasted Ravioli with Meat sauce

Ingredients (4 servings):

  • 24-40 Ravioli
  • Louisa meat sauce
  • Parmesan

Directions:

  • Thaw and heat Louisa meat sauce. Cook ravioli until golden brown then toss with parmesan cheese. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with sauce.
